Recently, Hon. Governor of Gujarat Shri Acharya Devvrat inspired the launch of “Corona Sewa Yagna” – a campaign to boost the morale of 1 Lakh vulnerable and low-paying Level-IV frontline warriors across Gujarat. Under the campaign, Amitabh Shah led Yuva Unstoppable has already provided nutrition and immunity booster kits to about 50,000 ambulance drives, nurses, ward boys, ASHA & sanitation workers, peons, etc. so far. These Corona warrior kits consist of nutrition and immunity booster items to last a family of 3-4 for 1-2 months. In other words, it’s a token of appreciation for their relentless services.

Ambulance drivers are putting their best foot forward

Ambulance driver Taarachand has not been to his home from work for the last 7 days. The 35-year old has been overloaded with work. “We are carrying patients out of station since there are no beds available in the city. The situation is really heart wrenching. We have to ensure there is enough oxygen support in the ambulance. Moreover, we can only eat once the patient has reached its destination and we have sanitized the ambulance”, he shared.

The second wave of COVID – 19 has wreaked havoc not only on the patients but also on the health workers. The ambulance drivers who are fighting tooth and nail to transport the COVID patients find no time to take care of themselves amid the deadly pandemic. The drivers merely find 4-5 hours of sleep. The ambulance drivers have stretched their limits by working extraordinary hours and staying away from their families. Above all in the plight to serve the nation they are not able to take care of themselves. However, they are not affected by the fact that they are highly exposed to the deadly virus.

Corona Sewa Yagna thanks ambulance drivers

Hon. Governor of Gujarat and Yuva unstoppable recognize their efforts and have pledged to take care of ambulance drivers and their family’s well-being.

Praising the spirit and dedication of ambulance drivers, Hon. Governor said, “the importance of ambulance and ambulance drivers in the life of any patient is invaluable. They selflessly work and try to help the patients reach hospital and get necessary treatment at the initial stage of disease, thus saving many lives. Welfare of the patient is their only aim. We must make efforts to boost the morale of ambulance drivers who are putting their lives at risk everyday during this pandemic. To think about them and their family is our duty.”

Acknowledging the brave work of these Warriors, founder of Yuva Unstoppable Amitabh Shah said: “in such an overwhelming situation even the ambulance drivers are serving with all their heart and soul.  Consequently it’s our duty to take care of their needs while they are busy doing their service.”
