This is 2nd in the series of Yuva Unstoppable’s articles on ‘Future of Education & Health’ for government primary school children.

The Background

“The unending spread of COVID-19 is sure to affect the future of children, especially those from vulnerable communities. This has thrown up a new and unprecedented set of challenges for the education sector” – Amitabh Shah.

Addressing immediate needs for tangible resources like food and hygiene essentials as well as the future concerns like education and mental health of children are some of these challenges. These led Amitabh Shah and Yuva Unstoppable to recently convene a one-of-its-kind webinar with experts from diverse sectors. This included people from renowned non-profits, govt. sector, corporates, e-commerce space, and entertainment industry, including the legendary Indian filmmaker R. Balakrishnan, popularly known as R. Balki.

Balki’s Vision for Children in COVID-19

R.Balki is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter and former Group Chairman of the advertising agency Lowe Lintas. He has directed some of the best movies like Cheeni Kum, Paa and Pad Man. A compassionate filmmaker, R. Balki is well-known for his social impact movies. At Yuva Unstoppable’s advisory board meeting, he shared some remarkable inputs to support the disadvantaged children in these times.

“Children have the opportunity to be exposed to and learn much more things when the schools are shut down (in non-traditional setting) than when they are open (traditional setting). This is the right opportunity to make available more and more new learning Apps, sites, and technology to the students.  This is so that they can take maximum advantage out of it. This could be one of the most productive times for students”, shared the bold and exceptional filmmaker.
